We were very honored to have interviewed one of the youngest and most distinguished chefs in the Philippines. Chef Hasset Go! Chef Hasset, together with his partner Jasyon Carlos, brought to the world the shop that made some of the yummiest-looking and best tasting cakes and pastries we have ever seen (and sank our teeth on), MedChef. As expected, our cravings for sweets that night jolted to somewhere in the heavens when we saw Chef Hasset's creations. Are you guys ready?

He is holding the Pastry Tower he did on-the-spot just for us. Super nice! It was cool to see Chef Hasset for the first time without his usual Chef get-up. Chefs wear normal clothes too! Hahaha. Hey, did you know that Chef Hasset is just 24 years old?

Our jaws dropped upon hearing his age and as we dug on that yummy Pastry Tower in front of us. Too young for so many accomplishments, eh?

Aside from putting up MedChef last August 2010, Chef Hasset received the 2010 Asian Star Achiever Award for Culinary and the 2010 Outstanding Pastry & Consultancy Restaurant Award from the 12th Annual Asian Star Awards! Wow!

Chef Hasset told us that his inspiration for baking came from his mom. He grew up as child with his two brothers in Misamis Occidental in Mindanao. He said they were raised by his mom as a single parent by selling homemade cakes. His mom would usually give him the task of decorating the cakes as he has the gentle hands for it.

After high school, he went straight to Manila to study at the Heny Sison Culinary School and become one the youngest Assistant Pastry Chefs there had ever been. You can probably guess what age is he around during that time. Right after high school.

And the rest is history.
