Sure some of us have been to a few places because of our work. Sometimes we enjoy. And sometimes we are already back to Manila before we knew it. But what if it was Boracay or Palawan or Bohol we had just left behind us? How can we just peacefully go back to Manila without spending a single second to marvel at the scenery before us or taking our well-deserved break from the chaotic world where we came from?
Yeah right. Been there. Done that.
But this time (being Boracay it is, my recent trip) I made sure that I have maximized every opportunity (sane or out-of-this-world) that I was given to enjoy my stay in one of the most celebrated Tropical Beaches in the World.
So after my 3-day adventure, here are the stuffs that I have gathered which can give you an idea on how to still enjoy your trip even when you know you have a limited time. Remember: The key here is to maximize each opportunity that you have.
Alright? Here we go. Enjoy!
Let me start by saying that we had a delayed flight to Caticlan that time. Yes. I know! Nothing sucks than being late with your appointment knowing that you only have a limited time to the place you're heading to. But things like that happen. What you gonna do? Well of course aside from battling with the airline operations staff (a.k.a. Shock Absorber of Agitated Passengers with Delayed Flights) you gotta find something else to do.
As for me, have a quick massage. And if you're in NAIA 3 and you're boarding near Gate 134, you're lucky. Make sure to avail of the 10-minute FREE massage the spa located on that area (Sorry I forgot the name. But it's the only one.) is offering. Talking 'bout some excuse to be out of your boss' sight huh?
Games are up in the air are fun! If you can fly without sleeping, don't take for granted these fun games your airline is offering. I've already won for myself a shoe bag and a pouch that I still use until now because of these games. Give it a shot on your next trip!
Actually. Have a photo everywhere you can because more often than not, when you reach your hotel, you will already get busy. So at least make sure to ask anyone to take your photo inside the boat that shall take you to Boracay. The blue-green water looks welcoming. Makes a cool background.
Yes. Enjoy your every meal and break. If you love seafoods, then be Boracay's fulfilled guest. The gift of being near the sea offers a lot of opportunities to eat fresh fish and seafoods. Just make sure to be careful when eating uncooked seafoods. These stuffs can be really tasty but when you're stomach is not used to it, it can really make you spend your whole day on top of the toilet bowl. You don't want to do that when you're in Boracay.
I love taking photos of clean and untouched hotel rooms. Not only because I know I won't be seeing it again as fresh and as well-kept before I leave, but also because I know no matter how sleek my hotel room is, the sad fact is, I won't be staying inside it all day.
Also, nice hotel rooms are good pegs for our dream houses. Agree?
Most freebies are really useful that's why we love 'em. 'Nuff said.
Since you won't have much time within the day. Try to schedule a room service massage early within the day. Nothing beats a massage that is followed by a long undisturbed sleep 'til morning.
OK. We can just skip this one.
Yes. Even sands need some cleaning too. That morning right after having a quick breakfast, I tried helping out the sand cleaner in our resort using the tool that really got me fascinated. I was surprised at the amount of garbage people consciously or consciously throw at the sand (or anywhere). Sad but it's also nice to know that the government and some private organizations in Boracay are working together to promote cleanliness in the island.
Because of Boracay's perfect white powdery sands, perfect sandcastles are being made out of 'em! These stuffs abound on the beach especially during peak seasons. Make sure to take a photo of one when you pass by one.
Practice your photography skills! The beach is a perfect place if you need to capture some action.
D Mall is overrated. Go to Talipapa! And have your cheap and quick souvenir-hunting there.
Why don't you grab the opportunity to invite your boss to do the Marine Walk or Banana Boat with you? Imagine yourself convincing him again to take you on as his employee during your job interview with him. Who knows? He might just agree again.
Yes. Deliberately explore the resort you are checked-in. There may be some good spots inside it that you won't see if you won't explore. Take your camera with you and capture it!
At the Caticlan Airport entrance, look for this guy and make sure to ask for his Cassava Cake. They say his Cassava Cake is made from heaven! I knew about this upon landing at the airport. Thanks to my officemate who told me about it when I'm already in Manila. Hahaha!
I got my favorite Dried Mangoes from him though. For a very huge discount.
There you have it. My 15 tips! Why don't you click the "Post a Comment" link below and share your ideas on how to enjoy your travel even when you're there for work and you don't have much time.
