Sleek Toiletry Bag (Traveler's Edition)

So what are you gonna do this long weekend huh? I’m sure some of you will go on a travel- either solo backpacking or excursion with family or friends. Whenever we travel, of course, aside from our clothes our toiletry bag is another thing we can’t afford to forget. It sucks sometimes when we discover that some of the stuffs that should be inside our toiletry bags were missing. We will be forced to buy in a nearby store or worse- borrow from someone else!

Here’s a sleek peek to my own personal toiletry bag whenever I travel. Hope you can share your own “What’s inside my toiletry bag?” blog too.

The Big Little Store at Gilmore

The Big Little Store. Whenever I am looking for something that has to do with computers, it’s always “Gilmore” that comes into mind first. It was just a quick LRT ride away from home- to my convenience. One day, I went there to have my old laptop checked-up and fixed. It was the laptop that became my bestfriend when I was studying in China. All of my files and pictures during my stay there were all stored in that laptop. And so it was to my great horror that, one day, the old laptop just suddenly failed to work.

My Perfect Hair Wax: A Panic-Buying Story

Many guys will agree with me on this. Finding the perfect hair wax for our hair is not easy.

Our hairs- though made of dead skin cells- have proven to be one of the “vainest” parts of the human body and a source of a gazillion of ideas and inspirations for the creation of the many hair products such as shampoos, conditioners, hair styling aids, accessories and etc.

Pardon the vanity.

5 Serious Reasons Why Bloggers Should Proofread

“My blog is not my college thesis!”

I used to think Bryanboy was right. I admit. As a blogger, I also have my own share of grammatical errors, subject-verb disagreements and wrong schmellings. I think I can only count in my head the number of times I have diligently checked on my grammar, spelling and word-choice before I hit the “Publish” button. I used to think proofreading is not worth the time.

Until one day.

I was lucky to have been invited in an event organized by inWrite, a professional organization offering proofreading, copy-reading and rewriting services for serious bloggers.

Cave Man & Yeti + The Art of Shaving Ice

Remember what they told us in History about the ancient civilizations that used to gather snow from the mountains and turn‘em into desserts especially during hot summer days?

The Persian Empire actually poured grape juice over the snow and then eat it! And then there’s the infamous Roman Emperor Nero who used to send slaves to Apennine Mountains to collect snow and then top it with fuits, nuts and honey.

Well, we’re going back old school again as we visited Cave Man & Yeti- a small shop near Eastwood City and St. Pio Center. They serve a curious dessert called “shaved flavored ice”.

Ready? Here we go!

Gigantic Siopao for Gigantic Cravings + PVL Siopao

My friend Keng Keng told me one day about the existence of this giant siopao that she swore I should find and blog about when I get the chance. Being a sucker for siopao I was, I thanked God that Keng Keng was my friend and then started to daydream about that giant siopao- its pure white and heavenly fluffy outer bun, its savory -meaty inner core and its delightfully sweet and sinfully tasty sauce that can melt the sadness of the world away!

Look at that!

The VIP at the Sweden Pavilion + World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China

Last year, I was very lucky to have been accepted as one of the scholars of the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation - China Scholarship Program and attend one of the most prestigious universities in mainland China- Fudan University. Adding more to that luck, Fudan University is located in Shanghai- the cosmopolitan city of China dubbed as the "Paris of the East". It was a beautiful city and I lived there during the first half of my year 2010.

Lookbook #2: The Extinguished

[Source: http://lookbook.nu/look/1054401-The-Extinguished]

Rainy season is here and the air is quite cool. When I visited the Enterprise Tower last week I saw a lot of stylish guys wearing sleek pullovers. And then I thought of my previous Lookbook shot I had from my previous work office at Dean & Trent, a Manila-based menswear company.

DC and I were just trying to be cool that day and thought of taking a few shots with his camera for a style blog post. Trying to be out-of-the-box I held this fire extinguisher peacefully situated at the corner near the entrance and then voila- we got this shot. The Extinguished. Well, uhm, inspired by the fire extinguisher.

Pullovers rock!

Pieces:
1. Esprit pullover.
2. White shirt.
3. Black jeans.
4. Sebago shoes.

You may see my Lookbook page here.

Top 5 Reasons Why North Park is Our Ultimate Chinese Restaurant

I love North Park! And I don't just have five reasons- I have more. Every experience at North Park is just incredible. My first eat at North Park is during my first job when my first boss treated me for lunch. He was surprised that I haven't been to this restaurant and told me, "You haven't discovered yet the goodness of Chinese eating."

Anyhoo, another branch opened up beside Araneta Coliseum just recently. I was so happy. Finally, the goodness of my Chinoy comfort food is drawing nearer to home. So the first time I saw the new branch, I never had any second thoughts to enter and relive my reasons why North Park is my ultimate Chinese Restaurant.

Here they are. Ready?

12 Ways To Rock In Tacloban, Leyte

Tacloban may not be the top-of-the-mind destination of anyone who's itching to explore the Visayas region- as most would say Boracay or Cebu, but it surely is a must-visit for people who (a) are too bored with the same ol' Philippine destinations they go to, (b) need some crash course in Philippine history via travelling (c) will do anything just to taste some good Filipino seafood cookin' and (d) are addicted to caffeine and coffee shops. Tacloban housed what I professed- a couple of years ago- my favorite restaurant of all time, one of the most interesting parks I've ever seen and by far, the coziest coffee shop I've ever entered in to. If you'll stay and read a little longer, you will know where those places are- among other things that truly made my Tacloban experience one of the most memorable and bloggable.

So here we go.

My Top 10 Takeaways from Teleserv Night-Out at the Cinema 2011

I felt special.

No. Not like a special kid who got some sugar rush for eating too much chocolates. But I really felt special for having been invited at the recently concluded Teleserv Night-Out at the Cinema 2011 event.

For bloggers.
