Suzhou Dimsum's Xiao Long Bao

I miss Shanghai's soupy and tasty Xiao Long Bao.

Shanghai's Xiao Long Bao.

From afar they only look like odd white balls resembling Manila's fish balls or some sort of small dumplings. But wait 'til it touch your taste buds.

A Shanghainese Xiao Long Bao maker.

Xiao Long Bao is literally bursting with flavor. It is made of ground meat with pork soup covered with that white stuff that you can also see in dumplings. It literally bursts into your mouth at your first bite which gave  Xiao Long Bao its unique contrast of textures and flavor. People do patiently wait in long lines in Shanghai just to taste this infamous Chinese dimsum.

It's a long line of people, locals and foreigners, waiting for their turn to purchase Xiao Long Bao in Shanghai.

I'm hungry again. Hay.

Uhm. Let me take you to the Philippines. In Mandaluyong.

Welcome to Suzhou Dimsum! People say they serve good Xiao Long Bao here.

During 2009, they were nominated for the Gold Spot Awards as Best Chinese Restaurant in the country.

Yehey! Here's the Xiao Long Bao.

We also got Suzhou Rice. This one smells so good! Grabe.

And a big bowl of Dumpling Noodle Soup.

Super affordable!

OK. Let me just say that I am just here for the Xiao Long Bao. But all in all, I also enjoyed the Suzhou Fried Rice and the Dumpling Noodle Soup. The fried rice smells so good while the soup's dumplings' fillings taste fresh.

Suzhou Dimsum's Xiao Long Bao is not bad! 很不错!Of course, it will not be compared from the one that I loved from Shanghai. This one has its unique flavor and texture of its own. Enough to satisfy my cravings especially now that it's cold and reminiscent of my five adventurous months in Shanghai.

That's me and my friend, Evert, during our city tour in Shanghai. Behind us is the pink and tall Oriental Pearl TV Tower near The Bund.

Thank you, Suzhou Dimsum!

Suzhou Dimsum is located at 837 A. Mabini cor. Araullo St. Mandaluyong City. They said they also have branches at Greenhills and Malate. For more information, you may call them at 721-6105 or 717-1153. They also deliver.

Tip: Suzhou Dimsum in Mandaluyong is a little hard to find. We advise that you bring your own car or take a cab going there. Coming from Shaw, enter the street that is on the other side of Puregold Shaw. Take care and have fun!

  1. I go there once in awhile. :)

However, I don't find their xiao long bao very good. There is a shop in greenhills promenade... I'm not sure what it's called. Anyway, its just a take-out dimsum counter at the ground floor. Really good there.

I do love their noodles though and their rice topped with beef and garlic. That one is really good.

  7. Wow! I'd love to try that one in Greenhills. There is also a Crystal Jade Restaurant that serves Xiao Long Bao. Is that it? :)
