Bandung: Indonesia's Factory Outlet City

When a travelling Juan says he’s been to Indonesia, one thing that hits the mind first is BALI. Bali is a very famous tourist destination known for a beach paradise. Jumping to a much closer view of Indonesia, it is also home to a city filled with good quality clothing at around half the price compared to our hometown.

The Sleek Guy's Ultimate Guide to Top Manila Street Foods

Last January 1, 2011 we went to Rizal Park with a sincere hope to re-enter the newly renovated Children's Playground and reminisce some childhood memories.

But fate almost decided for us. Look at the thickness of the crowd.

The Quattromondial Monument

Gone are the days that at the center of the Centennial Square of the University of Santo Tomas is a tall, empty and curious structure. Except only for the tarpaulins that cover its four sides and never failto arouse the curiosity of the students passing by it when it was still newly erected.

"Para saan kaya ito? Wala namang laman sa loob. May tarpaulin at bakal lang. Surprise daw? Hmmmm. Makapagtampisaw na nga lang sa Centennial Square fountain."

Curiosities had finally been broken yesterday, January 27, 2011, as the QuattroMondial Monument was unveiled.

Tadaa!

Here's a short inspirational video from Mannatech Europe to brighten up your Friday morning.

Where in Manila is Kilometer Zero?

Where else can a self-confessed hard core ManileƱo celebrate the first day of the year outside his house?

Where else can a wanderlust blogger take an oath to travel as many places as he can within the archipelago and spread the word (and pictures) of the unique beauty and charm of the land?

Where can it be?

How To Eat a Xiao Long Bao: A Step by Step Guide

Having stayed for a couple of months in Shanghai, the cosmopolitan city of China where Xiao Long Baos are very famous, I have learned the proper technique of eating the best dimsum I have sank my teeth on.

Suzhou Dimsum's Xiao Long Bao

I miss Shanghai's soupy and tasty Xiao Long Bao.

Shanghai's Xiao Long Bao.

From afar they only look like odd white balls resembling Manila's fish balls or some sort of small dumplings. But wait 'til it touch your taste buds.

My Banapple Exclusive Discount Leather Keychain (Yey!)

I will always be proud and grateful for this cute bling bling.

This Banapple leather keychain gets me 10% discount at any branches- forever.

I finally got the chance last Sunday to visit Banapple in Katipunan Ave. to claim my "prize". (My blog entry for Banapple is one of the most-read posts I've written for Sleek in the City.) To get a token as special as this is truly an honor for me and for Sleek in the City which is barely just two months old.

Banapple's Ms. Sally said that this entitles me for a special discount at all Banapple branches anywhere. She also added that people who have this kind of keychain did not necessarily apply nor purchase X boxes of Banoffee Pies in order to get one. It is the management's sole discretion to whom they shall give it to. (Yehey!)

And with that, thank you thank you thank you Banapple!

The Good Driver

During my first few months on my new job, my boss accompanied me to the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) to look for a venue for an upcoming event. While inside the taxi, I was holding my camera, some documents and a pouch containing my valuables such as mobile phones, cash, ATMs and etc.

When we reached the entrance of the PICC, the guards asked for my ID. I reached for my pouch. But I was only holding my camera and the documents that were in my hands. The pouch (with my phones, cash and IDs) wasn't there. I turned to my boss and asked her if she noticed me holding my black pouch a while ago. I enumerated to her the things that were inside it.
It was nowhere to be found.

Pure Pulp. No Fiction. (The Minute Maid Pulpy Story)

Hey!

I just drank a bottle of Minute Maid Pulpy. They say it’s got ‘no preservatives added’. Aw, c’mon…It’s bottled juice. Is that even possible? So I thought maybe this is just one of those Advertising gimmicks that glorifies a product to the nth level as if it was the Sorcerer's Stone. Hahaha!

I will never forget the warm accommodation we have received from one of the best-tasting karinderyas we have been to ever.
